You built a website for your business. It looks nice. But the phone is not ringing, and Google acts like your business does not exist. If this sounds familiar, you are not alone. A bakery owner in Rawalpindi told us the same story last month. His website had been live for two years. In all that time, not a single customer had found him through Google.

The truth is, most business websites make the same handful of SEO mistakes. The good news: every one of them can be fixed. Here are the ten we see most often.

1. Your homepage does not target any keyword

Your homepage talks about everything in general and nothing in particular. “Welcome to our company, we provide quality services.” Google reads that and has no idea what to rank you for.

Fix it: pick one main keyword for your homepage. If you are a marketing agency in Rawalpindi, that keyword might be “digital marketing agency Rawalpindi”. Use it in your page title, your main heading, and your first paragraph. One page, one keyword. That is the whole rule.

2. Your page titles are empty or all the same

Open your website tabs right now. If every tab says just your company name, or something vague like “Home”, you are wasting the most valuable SEO space on your site. The title tag is the blue headline people see in Google results. It decides whether they click.

Fix it: give every page a unique title that says what the page offers and where. “SEO Services in Rawalpindi | SEO Infinite Future Marketing” beats “Home” every single time. Google explains this clearly in its SEO starter guide.

3. You have no Google Business Profile

If customers in your city cannot find you on Google Maps, you are invisible to the people most ready to buy. A free Google Business Profile puts you on the map, literally, with your phone number, hours, and reviews.

Fix it: create your profile at Google Business Profile, add real photos, and ask happy customers for reviews. For local businesses, this one step matters more than almost anything else. It is also the core of proper local SEO.

4. Your website loads too slowly

People leave a website that takes more than a few seconds to open. Google notices, and pushes slow sites down the rankings. The usual culprit is huge uncompressed images.

Fix it: test your speed free at PageSpeed Insights. Then compress your images and remove anything you do not need. A fast site is not a luxury. It is a ranking factor.

5. Your headings are a mess

Headings tell Google what each section is about. Many sites have no main heading at all, or five of them fighting each other. Both confuse search engines.

Fix it: every page needs exactly one H1, the main headline, with your keyword in it. Subsections get H2s. Think of it like a book: one title, then chapters.

6. Your service pages say almost nothing

A service page with two lines of text gives Google nothing to work with. “We offer SEO services. Contact us.” That will never outrank a competitor who actually explains what they do.

Fix it: write at least a few honest paragraphs on every service page. What is the service, who is it for, how does it work, why choose you. Our own SEO services page follows this exact pattern, and it is the page that brings us enquiries.

7. Your pages do not link to each other

If your blog post never links to your service pages, and your service pages never link to each other, Google struggles to understand your site. Visitors also leave sooner because there is nowhere natural to click next.

Fix it: in every new article, add two or three links to your own relevant pages. A post about rankings should link to your SEO page. A post about websites should link to your website development page. Simple, and it works.

8. Your site breaks on mobile phones

More than half your visitors are on a phone. If your menu does not open, your text is tiny, or buttons overlap, those visitors leave in seconds.

Fix it: open your site on your own phone today and click through every page. Fix whatever looks broken. Google now ranks the mobile version of your site first, so this is not optional anymore.

9. Your blog is dead

A blog with one post from two years ago tells Google your site is abandoned. Fresh, helpful content is how you earn rankings for dozens of new keywords over time.

Fix it: publish one useful article every week or two. Answer the questions your customers actually ask you. Each post is another chance to appear in search results.

10. You bought cheap backlinks

This is the dangerous one. Those “1000 backlinks for $5” offers build links from spam sites, and Google penalizes sites that use them. We have seen businesses disappear from search results for months because of this.

Fix it: earn links the honest way. Write a genuinely useful guest article for a respected marketing blog, and they will link back to you. One real link from a trusted site beats a thousand fake ones. If you want backlinks done right, this is exactly what our digital marketing work covers.

Start with the biggest wins

You do not need to fix all ten today. Start with your homepage title, your Google Business Profile, and your site speed. Those three alone can move the needle within weeks.
